P&A is focused on words that convert. Together, we get really clear on your story. Then, we write it in as many different ways as we need to (bios, press releases, your website, IG captions) and put it in as many places as it makes sense to (newsletters, blogs, articles, influencers’s socials). As we both know, that costs money.
Money can be a deal-breaker on both ends, and it’s important to us to get into business relationships with clear eyes, full hearts, and (figurative) cards out on the table.
So, here’s everything you want to know about our writing and consulting rates but may not know how to ask. Please read this before requesting a meeting. It’ll save us both time and energy.
Q: Are your rates hourly?
A: No, your investment is not based on hours worked. Every project quote is value-based, meaning you’re paying for the value and ROI of the finished product, not the time spent producing it.
Rates also include:
-Time for research
-SEO keyword integration and formatting
-Links to your existing content, as relevant
-Access to our network and connections, whether those are within the community in and around Seattle or influencers with whom we’ve worked for years and who may be interested in receiving, reviewing, and/or writing about your product or service
Q: Do you charge by word?
A: No. Charging by word incentivizes the person choosing to do so to write more for the sake of a few extra cents. We deliver quality within a mutually agreed-upon word range.
Q: What’s your minimum?
Small, one-time assignments (like blog posts) begin at $600. Most clients need blogs that are around 1,000 words. Those start at $750 per blog post. That price does not include SEO keyword research.
We prefer to work on a retainer, and those larger, ongoing relationships are custom-quoted based on scope. We usually require a $5,000 minimum monthly retainer for these projects to get a slot on our calendar. If you are a small business with a small budget, contact us. We won’t lower our prices, but we will create scopes of mutually beneficial work.
Q: Why do your prices start where they do?
We believe that, at the most basic level, money is an energy exchange. We are agreeing on a partnership that fills us both up. Clients who decide to work with P&A believe in paying for a high-quality product that generates traffic and sales. Our rates allow us to take on fewer clients and produce work that allows us all to live spacious, rich lives. That’s a win-win.
If your focus is on keeping costs low (rather than sticky stories and high ROI), you’re in the wrong place.

Q: What’s the process like for a new client?
A: Every new client follows this process:
1. You fill out our contact form and wait for a response. If we have the time and are psyched about your project, Whitney will reach out with a link to her calendar.
2. We schedule a meeting to chat through details.
3. Whitney sends a proposal based on our conversation.
4. You review the proposal, accept (one of) the option(s) (sometimes, there is just one option), reply with questions, or do nothing (although this last option is unkind and least preferred).
5. Whitney sends a contract, we sign it, and we get to work building our dreams.
6. For projects, Whitney sends a 25-50% invoice for the deposit to hold the time or, for retainer work, we invoice at the end of each calendar month, with net 14-day terms.
We will communicate with you via email throughout our relationship or during meetings if that is part of our agreement. Whitney doesn’t answer her phone during the work day. It’s on DND, which drives everyone except Whitney nuts.

Q: What should I include in my inquiry?
A: Please include all the information you think would be helpful for our conversation, along with any social media links and the URL for your website. This saves us a lot of time while we research and prepare for our meeting. Many people avoid the budget question, but even ballparks are valuable. Money doesn’t have to be scary!
Q: How soon can you start?
A: It depends. Typically, we request at least a two-week lead time for new projects. We tend to have 1-2 openings for new client projects each month, and those fill up quickly. The sooner we can start the conversation, the better.
Q: Can you share some recent samples of your work so I can get a sense of your style?
A: Sure! Check out recent client case studies on the blog here, and stay in the know by signing up for the newsletter here.
If you need us RIGHT NOW, we’ll move you to the top of our to-do list and add 25% for VIP service to your invoice.
