Introducing: The Expanded Team P&A

When I started Popa & Associates in 2017, I was a little over a month post-partum. I can’t remember the name I wanted, but it wasn’t available, so I picked the first one on the list that sounded pretty good. I had been watching Scandal, so it’s possible Olivia Pope was in the back of my mind, but a post-partum mind is a hard thing to trust.

I had two goals:

  1. Make half my corporate salary

  2. Quit commuting

The forcing function of it all was, of course, my baby, with whom I wanted to hang out and get to know. My first full year in business, I made 130% of my corporate salary. I know this because I just did the math on my laptop’s calculator.

Since then, I’ve supported dozens of clients, worked on exciting launches, and written about really cool companies. I love what I do.

And I want to do even more.

So, on the seventh anniversary of Popa & Associates, I get to announce the expansion of Popa & Associates to include associates who aren’t my cats or my kids.

They’re writers like I am! They’re also all parents! And they’re excellent.

You already know (and love) Eric. In our time working together, he adopted twins! We just finished writing a website for an engineer who’s starting a consulting business. You can read more about him here. His main focus is on education and non-profits.

Jami is a mom of four who has worked for Target corporate and written for magazines like Shape. She homeschools her kids and is focused on parenting and wellness.

I’ve known Kim since we were in our early 20s working at Edelman Seattle. She’s always been a bright light. Her last corporate job was at Under Armour. Now, she lends her expertise in spirituality and athletics to her writing projects for P&A.

As for me, I continue to write about all things hyper-local, with a strong emphasis on food and hospitality.

(And a special shout-out to our virtual assistant, Alysha, who has organized me in this transition and made everything beautiful along the way)

When I set out to create a richer life for myself, it was about time and project freedom. It’s become so much more. And as it’s grown, I’ve become much more comfortable lifting myself out of the trenches a bit.

Before he died, my dad told me to never lose my writing. And I never will. But I’ve realized it’s a lot more fun to work on more projects and share the bounty with more people, especially magical humans on parallel paths.

Popa & Associates is the best luxury boutique copywriting agency in the Pacific Northwest because its word nerds get to live full lives outside of work. It’s the best copywriting agency in Seattle because it’s committed to treating our clients as well as we treat each other, and spending an absurd amount of time riffing on the perfect way to turn a phrase.
